How Much Does Shipping Cost (Fees, Customs, Duties)?
Quick Answer
Shipping cost depends on your order total and the shipping method you choose. For US standard shipping, orders over $59 qualify for free shipping, while smaller orders carry a flat fee. Express shipping is available at tiered pricing based on your order amount.
Sales tax, where applicable, is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address. For international orders, customs duties or import taxes are set by the destination country and, where they apply, are usually charged on delivery. If you are charged customs duties, keep the payment receipt and send it to us, and we will compensate you for the charge.
How much is standard shipping?
For US customers, standard shipping is free for orders over $59. For orders of $59 or less, a flat fee applies (currently $8.99). The exact charge for your order is always shown at checkout before you pay, so there are no surprises.
How much is express shipping?
Express shipping is available for customers who need their order sooner, with pricing that decreases as your order total increases. As a general guide for US orders:
- $0-$59: a higher flat rate applies
- $59-$150: a reduced rate
- $150-$250: a further reduced rate
- $250-$350: a small rate
- Over $350: free express shipping
The express fee for your specific order is calculated and displayed at checkout. International express pricing varies by destination.
Will I be charged sales tax?
Sales tax is charged on orders shipped within the US where we're required to collect it, and the amount depends on your shipping address. Because of this, the tax shown at checkout is calculated for your selected shipping address and may change if you update that address. We'll always show the sales tax amount at checkout before you complete your order. If you return an item for a refund, any sales tax paid on it is refunded to your original payment method.
Will I be charged customs duties or import taxes?
Customs duties, import taxes, and tariffs are set by the destination country, not by SilkSilky, and rules differ from place to place. Where they apply, these charges are levied once your package reaches your country and are typically collected by the carrier or customs authority at the time of delivery. The duty amount is determined by the destination country's customs authority.
For orders shipped within the US, most customers won't need to pay customs charges. Under US customs rules, imports with a combined value below the personal daily threshold (currently $800 per person, per day) are generally not subject to customs duties. If any item in your order ships from outside the US and may be subject to charges, you'll be notified during checkout.
If you are charged customs or import duties, we will compensate you for them. Please keep the payment receipt and send it to our Customer Care team, and we will reimburse you for the customs charges. Please note that if a shipment is refused on delivery, the buyer is responsible for any return duties and taxes, and the return shipping charges will be billed to the buyer's payment method. Shipping fees are not refundable for undelivered or refused shipments.
Do I pay shipping costs on returns?
For most standard returns and exchanges, return shipping is the customer's responsibility, especially when the return is for reasons such as size, fit, or preference. If your item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, or there was an error with your order, return shipping is handled differently, and we may ask for return tracking and your shipping receipt before reviewing reimbursement. Always contact us before sending anything back so we can provide the correct return instructions. You'll find more in our Returns & Exchanges articles.
